Advice from a Drawing Teacher:

Ways to Keep Creativity Alive

*Explore areas of INTEREST that really excite you

*TRUST your intuition and sense of inner knowing

*Seek out LIVELY people as inspiring role models

*FIND good teachers who are GUIDES, not DRIVERS

*Become well informed from a VARIETY of sources

*Pursue active hobbies that are stimulating and FUN

*BECOME more CENTERED through meditation and quiet time…….

*Practice Relaxation and release stress REGULARLY

*Seek good COMEDY, laughter, opportunities for play & music!!

*DAYDREAM, visualize, fantasize, pretend, imagine

*Keep NOTES of your inspirations, experiences, and observations

*CHALLENGE your mind with puzzles + games

*GET enough SLEEP, Pay attention to your dreams

*Keep yourself HEALTHY, stretch, exercise, eat energy foods!!

*Regard Mistakes as steps to DISCOVERY

*Spend Time close to NATURE, away from crowds

 Welcome the unexpected,

Listen to the Outrageous

Consider the Impossible!!

Linda Ruddy is a creative and she works in a variety of materials including pencils, paints, paper, porcelain and fabric. Her current projects involve hand-sewn bookbinding, children's book illustrating, and writing. In 2010, two of her paintings were published in the Saddleback College literary magazine, The Wall.
