Patterns of Life

I’ll admit, I am struggling with the organizing.  Back in January I made a list of goals, set up a reward plan, and I had a clear vision for revamping my studio space.  Now, we are well into April and I look around my workroom and it seems like I’ve done NOTHING for the past four months.  I am having a moment of discouragement.   Truth is, the ebb and flow of life has been heightened these past weeks/months with the passing of another family icon, my father-in-law.  His funeral and services honored his life and passing.

One thing I have accomplished with the organizing is putting all the quotes I’ve collected over the years into one book for easy reference.  Here’s one to share now:

“Look to this day!
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence:
     The bliss of growth.
     The glory of action.
     The splendor of achievement.
For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow is only a vision,
But today well lived makes every yesterday a
dream of happiness
And tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day!”

  1. Be patient with yourself and your dream. You wouldn’t be so hard on another artist would you? Also, have you done nothing or does it just seem that way? Write down all the small wins and you may be surprised how they add up to something great.

    • I’ve actually done quite a alot, but I keep pulling more out of closets, garage, etc. etc. so THE PILE appears not to be moving. – I just can’t believe how I’ve saved ideas – so many pieces of paper, so many spiral notebooks with musings or sketches, so many boxes of papers, so many books…more than I can ever accomplish in my life. I’m spread too thin but I am making progress. And you are right, I would never be as hard on another artist. Thanks for the reminder to be patient with my progress.

I love that quote and am going to print it and put it on the fridge for easy reference. Thanks!

  3. Love the quote! 🙂

Your goals are still well within reach. Don’t let a little thing like April incite panic. 😉
